Como and Lugano: two different worlds, one great day out!
Spend the morning looking around the bustling market in Como, with its hundreds and hundreds of stalls spreading all along the Roman town walls…otherwise the town itself has lots of other interesting things to see and do, from the Duomo, the elegant cathedral on the lake, Como’s most impressive monument, to the beautiful views you can get from the top of Mount Brunate, which is reachable via the funicular railway that leaves from the lakeside promenade.
After a full morning in Como, we continue into Switzerland to visit the famous holiday resort of Lugano on the shores of its lake: a complete contrast to Lake Como. Lugano offers a beautiful lakeside promenade, one of the most beautiful in Europe, plenty of shops, from the department stores to the designer boutiques, passing by its innumerable jewelleries, without forgetting the many outdoor cafes, where you can relax and spoil yourselves with one (or two!) of the delicious Swiss pastries.
