the Hotel Britannia Excelsior Cadenabbia. The Britannia is across the road from the lake, (approx 20m), and has 192 rooms.Below is a list of all the refurbishment work carried out on the Britannia this year. Also I have added a quantified list of what is included in the all inclusive product, the excursions available, public transportand prices.The Hotel Britannia is open the 29th of april . The Hotel generally operates on a full board all inclusivebasis during the season, however out of season and for occasional groups we can offer also half board and bed & breakfast. Attached are also photographs some photographs of the work that is being done right now.
All ROOMS
New Front and bathroom doors.
- Double glazing - wood internal, aluminium external ( except for fith floor, no noise problem, but to be completed 2006 )
- Painted, walls and ceiling
- Varnished and re surfaced floors
- New furniture and fittings, except Superior rooms were it was decided to have all the antique furniture completely restored. Please see picture attached Imperial room ( rooms with red curtains ). We had some friends out recently who thought there was not a great deal of difference between these and the junior suites at Villa D'este, except the € 800.00 anight !
- New curtains with triple layers, transparent / oscurante / mantovana (superior rooms red, rest blue ).
HOTEL
- The outside of the Hotel facing Lake Front and Via Roma completely re decorated, ( including new guttering etc. )
- two more floors have been added most rooms with balcony lake view
- the dining room has been extended to accept the capacity of the clients the dining room is also being re designed to suit our clients better
- All corridors re decorated throughout the Hotel
- All corridors fitted with new carpets.
- Dining room ceiling completely restored to its' original beauty
- lifts re furbished in the main hotel.
We are currently undergoing a project of building a facility center located at the rear of the hotel that will include a spa a congress center, a bar and a heated swimming pool that has a retractable glass roof for summer and winter seasons. the center will also host a vast parking area underground. there is a 3d model of the facility at the top of the page.
We have the management contract on the Lido di Cadenabbia (Beach, bar, sunbathing area and swimming pool over on the lake, magnificent position) for this year too from April to the end of September 2006. Free entrance and use of the large swimming pool for the Britannia guests along with free beer, wine and soft drinks for those who have the fully inclusive package. It is just across the road from the Britannia and is directly on the lake.
What’s included ?
As always the all inclusive package at the Britannia includes :
Full Board – Hot and cold Breakfast ( with toast and croissants new for 2006 ).
Four course lunch.
Four course dinner.All meals are buffet show cooking service, offering Anti pastas
At least three different types 1st courses One soup and one baked pasta/risotto one freshly cooked pasta at the buffet.
Main courses
Two different meats and one fish choiceTwo hot vegetables, separate salad buffet with plenty of selection.
Dessert
3 choices of cake, selection of ice creams, tinned fruit, fresh fruit, and dessert.
There is no limit to regarding the quantity of food or drink, guests can return to the buffet as many times as they wish !
The bar is open from 08.30 until midnight. ( Last orders at 23.45 ) every day. Included are:
all locally branded spirits, ie. , gin, vodka, brandy, whisky, vermouth ( red, bianco and dry) , whisky cream, amereto, campari, sambuca, Italian Grand Marnier, light and dark rum, Sambuca, Grappa, limoncello, coffee liqueur, etc., Soft and fizzy fruit drinks, tonic and soda water, white, red and sparkling wine and draught beer. Coffee, Tea and hot chocolate are also available from the machines. Freshly ground coffee is not included.
All room rates are based on Standard twin or double rooms with Ps or Bath/ wc / satellite TV/ Telephone/ digital safe / overhead ceiling fans. There is no supplement for single rooms.
Lake View, Lake View and Balcony and Superior rooms are available for a supplement.
Live music and singing most nights, particularly pleasant in the summer evenings
Excursions. We also organise a complete excursion program, including: St Moritz and the Bernina express one of the most famous train journeys in Europe passing the glaciers , lake cruises and wine tasting, Milan , three lakes tour , Como market and Lugano Valtellina Wine trail, guests will be escorted to tirano in the heart of the valley where they will have the chance to visit a local wine factory and view how the wine is produced in the valley. Old Bergamo, a visit to the old city of bergamo that extends up high unto the bergamascan hills, the guests will have a possibility to take the funicular all the way upto the center. all excurtions are guided
We can also organise transfers to and from airports from taxis to coaches, the local hiring of cars and boats on the lake and any particular type of transport or excursion for individual or groups. Public Transport (times and availability can vary according to season)
Ferry boats run to and from Bellagio all day. Starting at approx. 06.00 the last departs Bellagio at 22.55, 23.30 on Sundays and bank holidays.Return to Bellagio € 5.80 a person50 metres ( approx ) from the hotel.
Lake cruise boats run north and south on the lake. They stop at all ports. Starting from Cadenabbia at 09.17 last returning at 16.46. As they are cruise boats they are not as frequent as the ferry between Cadenabbia and Bellagio. Cadenabbia to Como return € 12.60 per person ( June to September) April May October departs from Villa Carlotta,Tremezzo. 30 metres ( approx ) from the hotel
High speed boats and hydrofoils run the same route as the lake cruises i.e. all ports. They start at 06.53 and the last one arrives at Tremezzo at 19.47. They are quicker and more expensive to Como than the bus and arrive in Piazza Cavour in the centre of Como. € 9.40 each way per person.Departs from Tremezzo, 10/15 minutes walk from the Britannia or 2 minutes on the bus.
Centre Lake tickets allow guests to use the ferry and lake cruisers all day around the towns and villages of the central part of the lake. One can get on and off and wander around these lakeside beauty spots at leisure, visiting local markets, historical sites, villages, bars etc.. We find this along with the guided lake tour is the most popular way of visiting the lake amongst guests. € 8.50 per person.
Guided Lake tour. Tour of the lake with a guide, pointing out historical places, houses, beauty spots, attractive villages and general places of interest worth visiting. At the end of the tour there is wine tasting which consists of 2 whites, two reds, limoncello and Grappa. There are also typical snacks from the area.Departs from opposite the Hotel. ( 10 metres ) Cost : € 27.50
